VIP International Plastic Surgery Center in KOREA - Body Liposuction

What is liposuction?

The fat distribution of the body changes with age. Fat abundant in the hips and thighs moves towards the abdomen and the flank and ruins your figure and clear-cut bodyline. When fat accumulates in excess of the needed level, it not only ruins your beauty but also causes health problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart diseases and arthritis. Removal of fat in the subcutaneous tissue can address such beauty and health problems.
However, it is not about removing the entire fat but about restoring the beauty of your body line.

Types of fat layers
The fat layer in the body and limbs is divided into two parts. The one in the deeper location is called the Deep Adipose Component.
It contains loosely distributed fat and determines the thickness of the fat layer. The one above this layer is called the superficial adipose layer, where fat is intensively distributed and gives elasticity to your skin. Liposuction is about this layer, thus how it is treated determines your body line.
What is the tumescent liposuction?

What is important in liposuction are the amount of blood loss and the fat suctioned.
The most critical thing is to safely remove as much fat as possible in order to produce the greatest effects and not to cause any mental or physical problems. Conventional liposuction can remove 1,000 to 2,000 cc of fat. However, 5,000 to 6,000 cc of fat must be removed to deliver remarkable results. Removal of such an amount using conventional procedures often requires blood transfusion or causes health threats.
To avoid such risks, tumescent liposuction involves injection of Ringer’s lactate solution mixed with anesthetic, blood vessel contractors and neutralizers into the area where the fat needs be removed.
Ten to twenty minutes later, only the yellow fat will be extracted from the area.

What is good about tumescent?
Less blood loss reduces the need for transfusion.
A large amount of fat can be suctioned.
It lowers the risk of complications.
It is less painful, enabling you to start walking earlier.
It leaves few bruises on the area of operation
It allows quick recovery
Local anesthesia can be used for the operation.
Types of liposuction
Based on instruments Based on the fat layer to be removed

Suction assisted liposuction

This procedure uses a vacuum sucker and a tiny tube,
through which the fat is suctioned. Despite its wide use in the past,
its use decreased with the introduction of ultrasonic procedures.

Nowadays, it is on the rise again
because the ultrasonic procedure is known to cause many

Deep liposuction

This procedure is used for general-purpose liposuction.
The thickness of this layer determines whether to remove
or not. Removal of this layer can make the skin droopier.

Hips, in particular, should be the last part to be removed in this layer.

Ultrasonic liposuction

This procedure used to be widely used because of its advantage
of selectively dissolving fat. But due to its disadvantages,
such as excessive heat, too much time and too much fluid after operation,
it is nowadays far less used.
This method has been rejected in a number of countries,
including the US because of emerging problems. Currently,
its use is restricted to dissolving solid fat or suctioning fat on the back.
Today a new type of ultrasonic instrument is being developed,
which focuses on reducing excessive heat.

Superficial liposuction

Suction of subcutaneous fat leads to droopiness
of the skin. This procedure is intended to keep the skin
to the body when the fat is removed. Only experienced
and skilled doctor must perform this procedure,
otherwise the skin can droop or overhang.

Lipomatic liposuction

This is a combination of conventional liposuction and power-
driven tremor so that the tube can get through the fat layer
more easily. This is intended to consume less strength of
the operator. One of the shortcomings is that it can cloud the
sensibility of the operator.
That is, the area, the depth and the location of removal should
be determined by the operator’s skill, but the motor-driven
tube can fail to convey the feeling of the site to the operator.

Hips and things

The line from the flank all the way to the hip should be beautiful without droopiness on the hips.

Breasts and torso

If your breasts are big but do not droop, liposuction alone without surgery can reduce the size.

Limbs have less subcutaneous fat, thus care must be paid using a tiny tube when removing fat.
