As a researcher with the Rhinoplasty Research Society under the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Dr. Myung-Ju Lee contributed to the co-authoring of “The Latest Surgical Guide to Asian Rhinoplasty,” aimed at offering new ideas and cutting-edge insights on Asian nasal surgery to modern rhinoplasty specialists.
In Chapter 5, under the section dedicated to correcting short noses and secondary rhinoplasty, Dr. Lee addressed the topic “Correction of the Severely Contracted Nose: L-Strut Reconstruction.” His study explains that in cases of severe nasal contracture, reconstructive surgery involves using autologous cartilage to rebuild the L-structure of the nose, thereby establishing the fundamental length and width of the nasal framework. He further emphasized that additional procedures—including tip grafts, lateral crural grafts, or batten grafts—should be considered based on the patient’s specific condition. These combined techniques help achieve long-term stability and aesthetically refined results.
