Cheekbone Reduction Surgery Method
STEP 01 Understand and design the cheekbone amount to be reduced.
STEP 02 Incise the excess side cheekbones and separate from the front cheekbones.
STEP 03 Incise the back part of the cheekbones.
STEP 04 Rotate the cheekbones to move inward.
STEP 05 Fix the incised bone together and suture together.
Invisible Incision Line
Most cases can be done from inside the mouth. This does not leave visible scars even after the cheekbone surgery, which is an advantage. However, in the case of the protrusion in front of the ear of the zygomatic arch, this area cannot be fractured and fixed, which is a disadvantage. In addition, the incision inside the mouth can aggravate the sagging face. In such case, a facelift to lift the facial soft tissues in parallel can prevent the sagging face.
Before & After
* Side effects such as inflammation after the surgery may vary by each individuals and may require appropriate treatments. Please check the guideline with the doctor.

Cheekbone Reduction Precautions
The cheekbone is a three-dimensional structure which forms the center area of the face and has the beauty of curve. If the natural curve disappears after the reduction of prominence, the face looks artificial and unnatural. Therefore, when shaved or removed, the beauty of curve should be considered, for which it is desirable to remove the straight part rather than the curved part after the fracture of the bone. To this end, surgeons should have an excellent artistic sense and ample knowledge.
For patients in their twenties, there is not a big problem regarding sagging face after the surgery. However, for those in their thirties to forties, the cheekbone reduction through an incision inside the mouth can aggravate the sagging cheeks. In such case, the cheekbone reduction through an incision in the scalp or the endoscopic facelift simultaneously with the cheekbone reduction can prevent the sagging cheeks.
This is not a problem except for the scalp incision method. The scalp incision is effective in reducing the cheekbone but leaves a long scar. Thus, unless necessary, an incision inside the mouth is desirable with the endoscopic facelift to prevent the sagging cheek. If the scalp incision method is necessary, a plastic surgery specialist with substantial knowledge and experience is required to minimize hair damage and scars.
The cheekbone reduction may cause facial asymmetry or unnatural curve when the design of the bone excision or procedure is wrong. The bone-excised area may look sunken without a natural curve. Therefore, the craniofacial surgery should be performed by skilled plastic surgery specialists with substantial knowledge and wide experiences.
These aftereffects are complications related to the scalp incision method. However, they do not occur when performed by skilled plastic surgery specialists.
